Zamfara: Bandits Abduct Passengers, Set Vehicle on Fire

By: Bayero Ade

Bandits attacked Kwanar Jalab village in Zungeru Ward, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting several passengers and setting their vehicle ablaze.

According to Politics Nigeria, the incident took place on Tuesday around 8 a.m., just hours after notorious bandit leader Bello Turji reportedly threatened to take revenge for the arrest of his relatives. While it remains uncertain whether the attack was directly linked to Turji’s threat, sources confirmed that about ten people, including the vehicle’s driver, were kidnapped during the ambush.

A local resident, speaking anonymously, described the attack as unprecedented for the area. “The bandits abducted all the passengers and then burned the vehicle. This is unusual; while they’ve kidnapped people along the road before, they’ve never destroyed vehicles during their raids,” the resident explained.

The attack has raised alarms about the escalating security crisis in the region, as communities continue to face increasing threats from bandit groups.
