Criticises Africans for Abandoning Their Roots
Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked a debate by asserting that many Africans are forsaking their traditional beliefs out of fear of societal judgment.
In a fervent Instagram post, the filmmaker condemned this trend, labeling it an “abomination” and an affront to cultural heritage.
Edochie passionately defended the strength and integrity of traditional African religion, vowing to remain committed to the spiritual practices of his ancestors. He articulated his belief that these traditions are founded on principles of truth, transparency, and fairness.
Adopting the identity of a “hardcore traditionalist,” Edochie proudly showcased his Igbo heritage, donning traditional attire and invoking Igbo names during his declaration.
He expressed, “The fear of what others might say has driven Africans away from their powerful heritage and authenticity. This is unacceptable!”
“I will NEVER abandon the ways of my forefathers. They are rooted in truth and fairness. I stand as a Hardcore Traditionalist. ISI MMILI JI OFOR. EZEDIKE 1. ALUSI NA EJE UKA. OKALA MMADU OKALA MMUO. THE KING OF WARRIORS,” he proclaimed.
This declaration comes on the heels of Yul’s earlier announcement in 2024, where he claimed a divine calling to lead an online church.
In a separate post, Edochie expressed deep concern over the rising number of premature deaths among younger generations. He attributed these tragedies to a neglect of traditional practices in favour of foreign worship, suggesting that the powerful spirits once protecting individuals have become angry and departed as a result of this abandonment.
The actor urged his followers to reconnect with their rich traditions, asserting that it is essential for their well-being and cultural identity.
