Youths will visit you if Akeredolu refuses to resign – Ex Lawmaker tells Ondo Speaker

By Ogunde Miracle

A former majority leader of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Tadema Yemi Festus, has threatened to lead the Youths Wing of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State in massive protest to the State Assembly if Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu fails to resign or in the alternative resume to work within the next three days.

In a notice released to that effect, the former lawmaker insisted that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly should be ready to receive a very large crowd of protesters in the State on Friday if the Governor fails to heed to the ultimatum given.

Tadema maintained that the Department of State Services, DSS, POLICE, National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, as well as AMOTEKUN cannot stop the protesters, noting that the protest would be peaceful.

According to him, “We want the world to hear us loud and clear that our State has been left out ungoverned since September 7, 2023, while the state is being ruled by proxy, which has no place in the 1999 constitution (as amended).”

The Former Majority Leader of the state assembly urged the Federal Government to be ready to declare a State of emergency in Ondo state and appoint an Administrator should the governor become incapacitated to govern the state.

Recall that Tadema had last week called for the immediate impeachment of governor Akeredolu after failing to resume to duty on his return from medical vacation abroad.

The former lawmaker had also expressed concern over the absence of the governor in the state since he wrote to the assembly notifying them of his return from medical vacation for over a month now.
