The Publisher of Starnews NG, Pastor Akinrinlola Olumide, has congratulated Prince Leke Adegbite on his re-election as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council.
In a statement issued on Friday, Akinrinlola extolled Adegbite’s leadership qualities, urging him to resist any form of deliberate intimidation from political actors aimed at undermining the noble profession.
“Your last tenure was marked by unprecedented feats, which, in turn, earned you a flawless victory in the second contest,” the publisher said.
“Unequivocally, this new chapter will usher in another round of inimitable achievements that will transform and enhance the welfare of journalists in Ondo State.
“Under your watch, unbiased, fair, and balanced reportage characterised the work of journalists in our dear Sunshine State.”
He further advised Adegbite to sustain the momentum and take decisive steps against harassment of journalists and the activities of impostors masquerading as professionals.
“It is my unfeigned advice that you sustain this burgeoning pace to frontally tackle intimidation and clamp down on quacks parading themselves as journalists. It is an incontrovertible fact that citizen journalism is creeping into the profession, but it must be vehemently resisted.”
Akinrinlola pledged the continued support of Starnews to the NUJ leadership under Adegbite, noting the platform’s commitment to ethical journalism and responsible reportage.
“I assure you that Starnews will continue to support your administration by ethically abiding by the rules and regulations of the Council, as well as dishing out accurate and balanced reportage,” he added.
“It is my prayer that God will enrich you with more wisdom and knowledge to pilot the affairs of the Union.”
