A young graduate, John Johnson, lost his life in a brutal attack suspected to have been carried out by herdsmen in Zaina, near Angwar Hakimi, Orozo, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The tragic incident took place on March 29, 2025, during a Boys’ Brigade camping event.
Johnson, who had already endured the pain of losing his father the previous year, was attending the camp when the attack happened.
Due to an impending rainstorm, the group decided to move from their original campsite to a nearby church.
Later, two leaders of the group went back to collect their belongings when they were ambushed. One managed to escape, but Johnson was caught and killed.
The Chief of Igala in Orozo, Amadu Zachariah, confirmed the attack and expressed sadness over the loss.
He stated that after the incident, security agencies were alerted, but no arrests had been made.
When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered that Fulani herdsmen residing in the area had suddenly left, raising suspicions about their involvement.
Leaders of the Fulani community assured the authorities that they would help track down those responsible.
Johnson’s death has left his family and community in deep sorrow. His loved ones are now calling on the authorities to ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, Fortress Ministry in Abuja, where he was an active member, officially announced his passing.
The ministry described him as a devoted believer who stood firm in his faith until the end.
