Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello hosted the parents of his successor, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his residence in Okene on Thursday.
As reported by Afripost, the visit by Alhaji Ahmed Sani and Hajia Habibat Ahmed Sani highlighted the strong bond between the two families and their shared commitment to the progress of Kogi State.
In his remarks, Bello expressed gratitude for the couple’s prayers and unwavering support, attributing Governor Ododo’s exemplary leadership qualities to the moral foundation instilled by his parents.
He praised their parenting, noting that their values and teachings were evident in the governor’s compassionate leadership style.
Bello emphasized that choosing Ododo as his successor was a deliberate decision, based on his recognition of Ododo’s dedication to the well-being of the people.
“Your son is a worthy successor. His compassion and commitment to the state’s development are remarkable. I am confident he will build on the achievements of my administration and take Kogi State to greater heights,” Bello said.
In response, Alhaji Ahmed Sani thanked Bello for his trust and confidence in Governor Ododo, describing it as a rare and commendable gesture.
He acknowledged the legal and political challenges Bello had faced, referring to them as divine tests that great leaders endure, and expressed optimism about Bello’s future political prospects.
The governor’s parents also offered prayers for Bello, asking for divine protection and blessings in his future endeavors. They expressed their belief that Bello’s journey was far from over and that he was destined for even greater achievements.
The visit served as a testament to the enduring partnership and shared vision for Kogi State’s development between the families of the former and current governors.
