The deaths of troops killed by bandits in Niger State, according to Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, will not be in vain.
This was said by Musa on Friday after he placed wreaths on the graves of 20 fallen soldiers and gave their relatives national flags at the Military Cemetery in Abuja.
Channels Television report that, The Nigerian military would exact revenge for the deaths of its soldiers, the head of defence stated, adding that no one responsible for the slaughter will escape punishment.
Musa added that the loss of their loved ones will not be in vain as he grieved with the family members.
“We will get them out, we will smoke them out, and we will make sure that they never have any other opportunity to kill any other person,” he added of those who committed the crime and those who had persisted in harming our soldiers.
Channels TV report that, In Niger State’s Chukuba area of Shiroro, an aircraft on a rescue mission crashed after shooting dead the soldiers battling insurgents.
The military responded to the development by stating last week that a total of 36 service members killed during the ambush.
