Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has levelled improprieties at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged measures he led the federation to take against Niger.
In regards to his measures, Tinubu had ordered the closure of Nigeria-Niger borders alongside cutting off power supply to the francophone country (Niger).
Ndume, at a virtual ECOWAS Parliament meeting on Saturday disclosed that the President by those decisions, has overused his authorities.
“We are the representatives of the people. Whatever action that must be taken should be dependent on what our people want.
“The ECOWAS Chairman, President Tinubu, early had wrote to the Nigerian Senate on the planned military intervention in Niger and members of the house, vehemently opposed the use of force, they instead prefer that dialogue should be adopted in resolving the impasse.
“President Tinubu has no right to close the Niger-Nigeria border and cut off electricity without the approval of the Nigerian National Assembly. It is not the juntas that are suffering the sanctions, but innocent people,” the Senator Lament.
