Former United States President, Donald Trump, 78, has stated that he does not expect to run for president again in 2028 if he is defeated in this year’s election.
In an interview with Sinclair Media Group, Trump was asked if he would consider another run if he lost to Vice-President Kamala Harris. “No, I don’t. I think… that will be it,” Trump responded. “I don’t see that at all.”
However, he added, “Hopefully, we’re going to be very successful.” Despite rarely acknowledging the possibility of defeat in the past, this marks the second time in four days Trump has mentioned it, BBC reports.
At an event hosted by the Israeli-American Council, Trump commented on losing, saying, “Do they know what the hell is happening if I don’t win this election?
“And the Jewish people would have to do a lot with that if that happens because at 40% [support] that means 60% of the people are voting for the enemy.”
These remarks were condemned by both the Harris campaign and the American Jewish Committee and Anti-Defamation League.
Polling data shows Harris with a lead of 52% to Trump’s 48%, with battleground states indicating a closer race at 51% to 49%.
