Why I Wanted Kamala Harris To Win US Election– Davido

By Our Correspondent

Nigerian music star Davido has shared his reasons for supporting Kamala Harris in the recent U.S. presidential election.

He expressed a desire to witness a defining moment in history—the election of the first female U.S. president during his lifetime.

Speaking during a podcast interview, Davido described how such a milestone would have been monumental for his generation.

Despite his preference, he acknowledged the outcome of the election and congratulated Donald Trump on his victory.

“I congratulated Donald Trump. That’s the president! What are you talking about? If I were running against him, I would still have congratulated him.

“What I like about America is that there’s true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so.

“To be honest, I voted for Kamala Harris because I wanted to see the first female president in my generation. That would have been cool,” Davido said.

The father of six also touched on a popular practice among Nigerians: giving birth abroad.

He explained that many parents choose this option to provide their children with better opportunities, including foreign citizenship, improved healthcare, and quality education.

According to him, it’s a way of securing a brighter future.
