By Our Correspondent

A Katsina woman, Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama, has gained recognition for her honesty after returning ₦748,320 mistakenly credited to her account.

The funds were intended for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Programme in the state.

Upon receiving the payment, Abdulkadir-Yanmama, who is not involved in the school feeding initiative, approached the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency to report the error.

After verifying her claim through a bank statement and an audit, the state confirmed her honesty.

Governor Dikko Radda rewarded her integrity with ₦500,000, a commendation letter, and an offer to join the next phase of the school feeding programme.

The recognition ceremony took place on Tuesday, led by the agency’s Executive Director, Dr. Mudassir Nasir.

The Auditor-General of Katsina State, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulkadir, applauded her actions, describing them as an example for others.

Abdulkadir-Yanmama expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment and the governor’s support, emphasizing her belief in doing the right thing.
