Why I Rejected Jonathan’s Offer To Join His Government– Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), disclosed on Thursday that he once declined an offer from ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to work in his administration.

He revealed this during an interview on ‘State of the Nation’ on Leadership TV, where he spoke about his interactions with Nigerian politicians in the past.

Sowore explained that Jonathan reached out to him while he was in the United Kingdom.

According to him, the former president sent a representative to meet him in Breton, offering money and a position in his government.

However, Sowore said he refused, stating that he could not collaborate with the people working under Jonathan’s leadership at the time.

During the interview, Sowore recalled his past involvement in political activism, particularly during the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

He noted that he was close to someone who was active in challenging the political establishment during that era.

Although Sowore acknowledged that Jonathan was one of the few politicians he might have had some personal connection with, he maintained his decision to stay independent.

He emphasized that he has consistently avoided aligning himself with Nigeria’s established political structures.
