A 12-year-old boy has revealed that he ran away from home because he was only being fed twice a day.
The boy shared his story after being reunited with his guardian at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State.
He explained that the two daily meals were not enough to satisfy his hunger.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by NSCDC spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke, the boy’s guardian, whose identity was not disclosed, acknowledged that the child has an unusually large appetite.
The statement quoted the boy saying, “I ran away from my guardian’s house because I wasn’t getting enough food. I was only given two meals a day, and it wasn’t enough for me, so I left.”
In response, the guardian was quoted saying, “His appetite for food is very high. No matter how much we serve him, he never feels satisfied.”
NSCDC state commandant, Michael Adaralewa, reported that the boy was found wandering in the LAMECO area of Osogbo around 11 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, by NSCDC operatives.
Adaralewa also urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies in efforts to combat crime, especially in the fight against kidnapping in the state.
