Why I Criticized Tinubu In The Past – Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has explained why he previously criticized the president and his administration.

Bwala, a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said on Tuesday during an interview on Arise TV’s The Morning Show that his stance was influenced by his position in the opposition party.

He stated that opposing parties are expected to challenge the government and hold it accountable.

However, his perspective changed after meeting Tinubu, which led to his appointment.

Before his current role, Bwala had accused Tinubu of election irregularities, arguing that he would struggle with legitimacy issues.

In May 2023, he also described Tinubu as a “president-select” rather than a “president-elect,” claiming that the election process was manipulated.

At the time, Bwala maintained that legal proceedings were necessary to determine the validity of the election results.
