Why are you against LG’s autonomy? PDP Chieftain knocks Akeredolu over comment on LG fund

  •  Says someone who does not remember when he became a governor, can’t remember when he touched LG fund

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Prince Samuel Aderehinwo popularly known as ST, on Saturday, knocked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, for saying he has not touched Local Government money since he assumed office in 2017.

The Vanguard had reported that governor Akeredolu said in Akure while playing host to the leadership of Organised Labour in the state that he has not touched Local Government money since he assumed office in 2017.

While reacting to the governor’s claim through a statement titled “Why is Akeredolu inconsistent these days?”, Aderehinwo said someone who does not remember when he became a governor, how can he know he had touched the LG fund?”

The PDP Chieftain wrote, “The other time, he proclaimed that he had fulfilled his promise of not owing workers’ salaries in Ondo state.

“Thank God for the dexterity of investigative journalism that revealed that many sectors are still being owed salaries: (health workers, primary and secondary school teachers, doctors, staff of Agagu University of Science and Technology, Adekunle Ajasin University and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, to mention but a few).

“Just yesterday the governor asserted again through media reports that he has not touched the LG fund since he assumed office in ‘2017’. Why then is he against LG’s autonomy? Why is he baiting the state Legislatures to vote against the lustrous gesture: ( Local government autonomy)

“Someone who does not remember when he became a governor, how can he know he had touched the LG fund?,” the statement added.
