It was a celebration galore with the atmosphere filled with joy and praises at the Thanksgiving and Anointing Service led by Pastor Oluwaseun Olatubosun on Sunday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Strong Tower Parish, Etobicoke Area of Toronto in Canada.
The Parish Pastor referenced Mathew 21: 1&2, saying the month of July is a month of Supernatural release. He prayed for divine release of blessings upon the congregation.
He harped on the efficacy of prophetic declaration, saying “whenever such is released, it is bound to bring divine manifestation, but it is unto you as far as your eyes can see. It is unto you as far as you can receive”, he added.
Referencing Jesus’ instruction to his disciples in the passage read, the Pastor said that the disciples went with the prophetic word given by Jesus Christ, and they returned with testimony, adding however that every withheld blessing and entitlement of the congregants from January until July be released unto them.
He made some prophetic declarations on the body of Christ concerning the month of July, which he tagged the month of perfection.
Quoting Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory which said, “When a purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable”, adding that it is vital for the congregation to know the outcome of what they do.
“We’ve not just come to thank God just because it’s our doctrinal thing to do, we have come to thank God purposefully. We have come to bless the name of the Lord with understanding,” he said.
Making reference to Psalm 149, he said the Bible urge Christians to praise the Lord with understanding to get results.
In his sermon titled ‘Count Your Blessings’, the clergyman spoke vehemently, using every disadvantage to one’s advantage. Citing the case of Paul and Silas, the man of God said they used the prison to their advantage by using the opportunity to praise God and received deliverance.
Quoting Psalm 136, he said: “David did something profound that I want us to pay attention to, he was recounting the blessings of God in the life of the children of Israel. Everyone who doesn’t take count will lose count. Immediately you lose count, you’re at shortage. What you don’t count will soon not count”.
“One of the ways not to forget God’s blessings is by counting. We should never forget to count and recount the blessings of God.
“What you don’t appreciate will soon depreciate. What you take for granted will soon be grounded,” Olatubosun said.
The man of God spoke enormously of God’s blessings, maintaining that no one could ever pay them back.
Quoting Malaki 2: 1&2, he emphasized on the importance of ascribing glory to God only.
“We should learn to count our blessings. We should lay it to heart to give glory to God.”
Preaching further, the Pastor urged the congregation to recount the blessings they’ve received, stressing that they are indebted to God with thanksgiving.
He added that the only way to give thanks to God is by recounting our blessings and appreciate his goodness.
Recounting Judges 5:2, he said the Israelites gave thanks to God after winning their battle.
According to him, “the devil wants you to complain, but God wants you to rehearse. You may not have it yet, but the last one God gave you should be rehearsed. Do you know why? Because He’s a faithful God, and they are the things that give God joy.”
“We need to look back and recognize the hand of God in the little way we have seen in the first six months. This is what establishes the blessings of the Lord.”
Speaking on why some people fail to thank God, the clergyman said that it is due to their desire to have more than what they have.
“No matter what you went through, praise God. In everything, we need to learn how to give God thanks. Even though when you don’t see anything, many things have happened behind the scene, but you didn’t know because God was at work”, he said.
Pastor Olatunbosun gave the following reasons for recounting one’s blessings;
- To avoid divine embarrassment just as in the case of King Nebuchadnezzar in the Bible.
- To remind God of what remains; referencing the story of the ten lepers.
- It’s a guarantee that the rest would be successful; quoting Ecclesiastes 7:8.
Concluding his sermon, the Pastor highlighted seven supernatural blessings of release as follows:
Supernatural release from debt, shame and bareness, release from lack and scarcity, Donkey that was tied down became released, (meaning anything tied down in one’s life shall be released), release of tapping into one’s potentials, supernatural release of fruitfulness and flourishing, release of divine favour and increase, and lastly, release from dangers of death and fear of evil.
