What to do when Police insist taking you to station with nothing incriminating – FPRO

The Force Public Relations Officer of Nigerian Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has advised Nigerians on what to do when officers at stop and search insist on taking them to the station even when no incriminating thing is found on them.

According to him, they should go with them to the station and on getting to the station, they should request to see the DPO.

He gave this advice while responding to a question asked on the X (formerly known as Twitter) by a concerned Nigeria.

Adejobi in response said, “Well, when nothing incrimating found, they should allow you to go. However, if they insist you go with them to the station, go with them, but request to meet the DPO. When they take you in, there must be a senior office on the ground, approach him. If they insist you don’t see him, move to the DPOs office or charge room, which is always close to the DPOs office. Someone must attend to you.

According to him, there is a need to be far ahead of officers that are “dubious” and “corrupt” in the force.
