What I discussed with Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Saturday revealed what he discussed with Molly Phee, the Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of African Affairs in the United States.

Starnews Nigeria had reported that Atiku left Nigeria for political campaigns in the United States of America in the company of a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, among other entourage.

Atiku revealed through his verified Meta account (Facebook) that he sought collaborative solutions to Nigeria’s local issues on democracy and governance during a meeting with the State Department of US-led by Molly.

He wrote: “Yesterday, at the meeting at the State Department led by Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of African Affairs, the focus of our discussions was on the critical need to seek collaborative solutions to our local issues on democracy and governance, our deteriorating security and the economy.

“Most importantly, we secured commitments to support for free and fair elections in Nigeria, an announcement of a sanction policy before the elections to deter anti-democratic forces and commitments for continued partnership with Nigeria in areas of security and development.,” he said.

In 2018, amidst talks that he cannot visit the US, Atiku in the company of the former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and others visited the US.

His recent visit to the US for the second time has cleared all doubts that Atiku cannot travel to the US, Starnews Nigeria can report.

Star news Nigeria learnt that Atiku is commencing a weeklong electioneering campaign in the US, where he would be meeting Nigerians and the business community during the visit. He would also meet with Nigerians in Diaspora as well as with PDP members in North America.
