West Ham has secured the signing of winger Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal that could reach £2m.
The 30-year-old is making the move from west to east London, reuniting with Nuno Espirito Santo, who previously managed him at Wolves.
The agreement starts at £1m and has the potential to increase to £2m with additional clauses, lasting until the end of the season with an option for another year.
Traore, who has been capped eight times by Spain, has only made two Premier League starts for Fulham this season and did not participate in their 2–1 victory against Brighton on Saturday.
“I’m thrilled to be here and eager to contribute to the team as much as I can and showcase my skills,” Traore expressed.
“My mindset is always focused on improvement. I strive to enhance my game and support the team as best as I can. I believe if I remain the same as I was yesterday, then I’ve wasted a day.
“I enjoy challenges. We need to approach each game one at a time, and that’s our plan—to give our best. I believe that everything stems from confidence, and I am confident we will achieve our goals.”
Traore’s last match for Fulham was a 3-1 win against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on January 10.
Starting his career at Barcelona, Traore has also played for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Wolves before joining Fulham in 2023 on a free transfer.
West Ham has been one of the most active clubs in the January transfer window, bringing in forwards Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for £20m and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for £25.2m.
They are also negotiating the sale of midfielder Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo, having already transferred Guido Rodriguez to Valencia and Luis Guilherme to Sporting, while German striker Niclas Fullkrug has been loaned to AC Milan.
The Hammers’ busy winter transfer window comes as the club remains in the relegation zone with 20 points, five points away from safety, despite winning their last two league matches, with 15 games left to play.
