The Critical stakeholders of Odigbo LG area of Ondo state have warned very strongly that they will resist any imposition of non- natives of the local government or any of the two proposed LCDAs to Chairman the council.
In a release made available to the media after the meeting of the stakeholders over the weekend, they commended the State Government under the Leadership of the Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for finding it worthy to create two LCDAs from the existing Odigbo LG, but they however warned very strongly of any attempt by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu to use her influence to impose one Mrs Eucharia Nwabarah on one of the proposed LCDAs as the Chairman.
“While we thank His Excellency, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for finding it worthy to create LCDAs from Odigbo LG, we however find it not suitable to our hearing the surreptitious move of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu to impose one of her sister from the South East, Mrs Eucharia Nwabarah on any of the proposed LCDAs as Chairman.
Odigbo people are peace loving and accommodating but this attempt by ondo first lady will be resisted with all our strength. We have able and capable hands that can lead our LG and the proposed LCDAs. Hence, it’s going to be a big slap on us by attempting to impose an Igbo lady on us in whatever form.”
While pledging our loyalty to the Government of Akeredolu, we however warn that such insult on our people will be vehemently resisted and we can go to any length to protect our right and collective interest.
It will be recalled that this same Ms Eucharia Nwabarah was imposed before on the good people of Odigbo LG as Councilor representing Ore ward by the wife of the Governor but this time around, we are not going to fold our arms and allow such embarrassing development to happen again.
“We wonder if the LG of the wife of the Governor in IMO State will ever allow an Odigbo Local Government Sons or Daughters to be the head of their local government no matter how long he or she stays in the place”. We have allowed this insult on our collective psyche before, we won’t allow such to happen again”, the statement said.
