W’Cup qualifier: Victor Osimhen’s return boosts Super Eagles camp

The Super Eagles camp has received a major boost ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, with Victor Osimhen making a timely return.

The 25-year-old forward, sidelined with a muscle injury since May 11, made his comeback at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.

Reports indicate his inclusion in the match was partly a farewell gesture to Napoli fans, as he may be transferring to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain.

Osimhen played for 25 minutes and nearly scored with a last-minute header.

If Osimhen remains injury-free during the upcoming training sessions, he is expected to start against South Africa on June 7.

However, the fitness of another key player, Samuel Chukwueze, remains uncertain. The AC Milan winger missed the final season match against Salernitana due to a hamstring injury, putting his availability for the upcoming international fixtures in doubt.
