Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding the 145th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.
In attendance are state governors, deputy governors, and President Bola Tinubu’s economic team.
The meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, the newest member of the council, followed by the national anthem.
The meeting is expected to address key economic concerns surrounding the 2025 fiscal year.
The proposed new tax reforms by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, which have been met with resistance from the 19 Northern States’ governors, are likely to be discussed. The council will also review the country’s economic performance and consider measures to boost growth.
