— Staff groan over myriads of problems, seek Aiyedatiwa’s intervention

Staff of the Ondo State House of Assembly have decried the myriads of problems they are faced with, calling for the urgent intervention of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to alleviate their sufferings.
Investigations by Starnews NG revealed that the staff members of the State Assembly have been left in pitiable conditions, with their welfare left uncatered for by the leadership of the house of assembly.
Some of the staff members, who spoke under the condition of anonymity with Starnews NG, expressed their displeasure at the poor state of the Assembly, stressing that the authority of the assembly is not interested in their welfare.
“We’ve been living in pitiable conditions for a while now, our welfare is not taken care of. We’re being left to suffer,” a source told our correspondent.
“We’re really suffering, no light, no water, no functioning toilet as I speak to you. We’re suffering and smiling,” another staff expressed anger when our correspondent visited the assembly on Monday.
Starnews NG sightseeing shows there are many issues being faced by the staff members ranging from lack of electricity, lack of water, no functional toilets and poor welfare.
The Ondo State House of Assembly had no power supply since January this year. The power outage was caused by a fallen pole, with no attempt taken by the leadership of the house to replace it, Starnews NG reports.
It was learnt the toilets are not functioning because of abandonment caused by lack of water.
According to a source who spoke under anonymity, the staff of the assembly could not function since January this year, due to lack of electricity supply. No activity is carried out since the power incident occurred, the source added.
Starnews NG learnt that the only functioning generating plant in the Assembly Complex is not in use except when the Speaker of the Assembly is around and would be put off when he leaves office immediately.
Further investigations revealed that the only functioning toilets in the Assembly complex are that of the offices of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Clerk of the Assembly.
No functioning toilets in the offices of Directors and staff of the assembly, there is no running water, thereby exacerbating their sufferings and worsening the conditions of the already infected toilets. Our correspondent who wanted to use the toilet had to leave immediately. It was an eyesore. The situation was terrible, Starnews NG can report.
Starnews NG’s investigations further revealed that the welfare of staff is of no concerned to the leadership of the Assembly, despite all the allocations and revenues being generated. The physical appearance of staff, including directors in poor clothes and bad shoes, shows that they’re not being taken care of.
Our correspondent got to know that Directors and their Deputies have no official vehicles allotted to them. It is only the Clerk of the House that has an official car, and he got it recently, Starnews NG gathered.
With the myriads of problems, the staff members of the Assembly are calling on the State government led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to intervene in the matter by taking immediate action towards alleviating their sufferings and helplessness.
The Staff who spoke anonymously to Starnews NG, appealed for urgent action by the state governor as the staff of the Assembly are submitting to alleged inhuman treatment by the leadership of the house.
