Vice President Shettima loses mother-in-law

The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has mourned the passing of his mother-in-law, Maryam Albishir, who died at the age of 69.

According to a statement released on Monday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s spokesperson, Albishir passed away on Sunday evening in Kano after a long illness.

The statement, titled “VP Shettima’s Mother-In-Law Passes Away,” highlighted her exemplary character and dedication to her faith and community.

The Presidency praised the deceased as a compassionate and wise woman who was deeply involved in charitable activities. Hajiya Maryam, mother to the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, was remembered for her guidance and support within her family and the broader Kano community.

She will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, following Islamic traditions.

The nation extends its heartfelt condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and their family, honoring the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir.
