Pat Utomi, leader of the National Consultative Front (NCFront), is pushing forward efforts to create a strong coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Utomi explained that discontented members from the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with leaders from five other political parties, are joining forces to drive change in Nigeria.
Utomi said this coalition is essential to tackle Nigeria’s problems, especially as global dynamics shift. He revealed that key political figures from both APC and PDP, motivated by the need for better governance, are eager to collaborate.
According to him, the alliance is focused on working with influential members who share the vision of a better Nigeria.
Managing different interests within the coalition, Utomi said, would require collective decision-making and selflessness.
The coalition plans to build a leadership structure that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians and operates as a government of national unity.
This strategy, he noted, would aim to bring transparency and development across all parts of the country.
Utomi criticized past leadership styles, including that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, saying they failed to prioritize the collective good.
He pledged that the coalition would avoid repeating those mistakes by emphasizing teamwork and promoting a transparent leadership model.
The coalition also seeks to tackle corruption and restore discipline in the political system.
Utomi stressed the importance of recruiting individuals with integrity and preventing criminals from taking over Nigeria’s political space.
The coalition’s goals include making democracy truly serve the people and pushing for constitutional reforms to improve governance.
Utomi said the coalition will inspire disciplined political behavior and transform the way public offices are filled.
Key stakeholders from Northern and Southern Nigeria, along with civil society groups, are already contributing to the coalition’s formation.
Utomi confirmed that the official launch of the coalition is scheduled for June 2025.
The movement includes influential figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who are expected to strengthen the coalition’s strategy in the coming months.
Utomi emphasized that the coalition aims to create a values-driven leadership and rescue Nigeria from its current challenges.
The goal, he said, is to build a united political front that puts the people first and drives meaningful progress for the nation.
