By Our Correspondent

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has taken action against 19 students, six of whom were in their final year, for their alleged involvement in a range of offences.

The decision, approved by the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), follows recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th/221st meeting.

Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs at UNILORIN, disclosed that the offences included misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, and admission racketeering.

The penalties meted out varied from rustication for one semester or one academic session to outright expulsion.

“The affected students were in various academic levels such as 100, 200, 300, and 400 Levels,” Mr. Akogun stated, underlining the severity and breadth of the disciplinary actions taken.
