The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been ranked 2nd in Nigeria and placed in the 1001-1200 range globally, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
This ranking, released on 9 October 2024, highlights over 2,000 universities worldwide.
The rankings were based on 18 carefully selected performance indicators that assess universities’ performance in teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. UNILAG shares the 2nd position in Nigeria with Ahmadu Bello University, Landmark University, and the University of Ibadan. All these institutions are listed alphabetically in the rankings.
Internationally, UNILAG shares its 1001-1200 global position with universities such as Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), Central Michigan University (US), Technical University of Madrid (Spain), and several others.
Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, UNILAG’s Vice-Chancellor, expressed gratitude to the university’s staff, students, alumni, and supporters for their contributions. She also called on the university community to embrace the FUTURE-Ready agenda aimed at building a workforce for Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
The ranking is a testament to UNILAG’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and global competitiveness.
