Ukraine Drone Strike Kills One in Russia

By Charles Maduka

A Ukrainian drone strike has killed one person and injured two others in Russia’s western city of Tver, according to regional authorities.

Acting regional governor Vitaly Korolev said a fire broke out after a fragment of the drone hit a residential apartment building. He confirmed that one person died while two others were treated at the scene.

Local authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The strike happened ahead of talks in Paris involving Ukrainian allies and senior United States officials, aimed at reaching a possible breakthrough on efforts to end the war. Ukrainian officials have said a proposed plan to end the fighting is close to completion.

Russia’s defence ministry also claimed that its air defence systems shot down 129 Ukrainian drones overnight across more than 20 regions, including areas close to the Ukrainian border, as the conflict continues nearly four years after it began.
