UK Blogger, Maureen Spreads Joy At 5th Annual Charity Event For Ode Aye Residents

As the new year approaches, London-based blogger Maureen Badejo, the CEO of GIO TV, has partnered with GIO TV Foundation to give back to the less privileged in Ode Aye Community of Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ondo State.

Today’s event took place at Ode Aye town hall, where Maureen expressed her commitment to supporting widows, underprivileged individuals, and the elderly with essential food supplies.

Participants received repackaged bags of rice, beans, and garri, along with other items such as Indomie noodles, Maggi seasoning, and school bags for local pupils. The food items were neatly packed in branded sacks featuring the GIO TV logo.

This year’s gathering marked the fifth edition of the initiative. In addition to distributing food, Maureen hosted a festive get-together with cooked meals and drinks, featuring entertainment from a DJ.

In a phone interview with Starnews NG, Maureen shared her motivations: “My aim is to help my community because I believe we must support one another when the government falls short. I want to clarify that this event is apolitical; I have no interest in politics now or in the future. This is purely a charitable effort to uplift the vulnerable, including widows, the elderly, and those in need in my hometown.”

The event was expertly coordinated by Maureen’s younger sister, Olaitan Oladehinde. Unlike recent distribution events in other parts of Nigeria that experienced chaos, today’s initiative was well-organized, with no reports of stampedes or injuries.

A total of 600 branded food packages were distributed, along with 20 school bags for students. Additionally, 607 takeaway plates of food were provided.
