Two police officers were abducted in Ondo State after a violent clash between Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives at a mining site.
The incident happened around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd, along the Ore-Sagamu Expressway.
The NSCDC operatives, who were reportedly on a national assignment with officials from the Ministry of Mines, arrived at the site in a convoy of a gun truck and three Hilux vehicles.
A confrontation began when they allegedly attempted to disarm the MOPOL officers on guard duty without prior notice.
During the scuffle, an NSCDC officer was shot in the leg, while two MOPOL officers were taken away by the NSCDC team.
Security agencies are currently working to resolve the situation and secure the release of the kidnapped officers.
The injured NSCDC officer is receiving medical treatment and is in stable condition.
