A tragic accident on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Saturday afternoon has claimed two lives, leaving one person injured.

The crash, which occurred around 3:27 p.m. in the Age-Mowo area, involved a Toyota Matrix (KSF 235 JE) and an unregistered Bajaj tricycle. William Manga, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Badagry, confirmed the incident.

Manga disclosed that two of the three occupants of the tricycle died on the spot, while the third sustained injuries.

“Our team received the alert around 3:30 p.m. and arrived on site by 3:36 p.m.,” he said.

The collision was attributed to reckless overtaking, resulting in a head-on impact. The injured individual was rushed to the General Hospital in Badagry for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.

Manga called on motorists using the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to adhere strictly to traffic rules, emphasising the need for caution on the narrow, single-lane road.
