Traditional rulers in Okitipupa local government area have rallied support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 governorship election, Agboola Ajayi, urging him to prioritize the development of the Ikale kingdom when voted into power.

The traditional rulers made this statement on Saturday when the Agboola Campaign team stormed Okitipupa local government area for a campaign rally in anticipation of the forthcoming election.

At a meeting with the royal fathers led by the Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa, Oba Michael Obatuga Adetoye, they welcomed Ajayi with open arms, imploring him to prioritize infrastructural development as a major tool for transforming the fortunes of the Sunshine State.

Introducing the PDP candidate to the royal fathers, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, the Oloroogun of Ikale kingdom and Chairman of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Council, described Ajayi as a beloved son of Ikale kingdom and particularly of Okitipupa town, where he resides with his family.

Olafeso, who is also a leader of the party, stated that Ajayi remains the best man for the top position in the state and vouched that he (Ajayi) would turn things around if elected.

“Agboola Ajayi is our beloved son here in Okitipupa. He deserves our support, and I can vouch for him that he’s the best man for the governorship position in Ondo State. I implore you, royal fathers, to support him, and I can assure you that he’ll make a difference in the history of the state,” said Olafeso.

Agboola Ajayi, in his remarks, referenced the late governor Agagu’s achievements while in office, saying he transformed the entire Ikale land for good.

He emphasized his resolve to continue with Agagu’s legacy, decrying the worsening state of insecurity in Ondo State, and promised to improve it significantly.

The PDP candidate also vowed to revive moribund factories in Okitipupa and embark on massive road construction when elected into office on November 16, 2024.

In their response, the royal fathers in Okitipupa local government urged Ajayi to dualize major roads in Okitipupa and also implored him to provide jobs and empower the teeming youths in the state.

They also called for the construction of community roads and sought support for the provision of power supply to rural areas in the Ikale kingdom.
