Tinubu’s Federal Appointments Spark Confusion Over Dual Chairmanship at NBRRI

By: Bayero Ade

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent appointments for the boards of 42 federal agencies have sparked confusion following a duplication of the chairmanship position at the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI).

According to Politics Nigeria, in a press statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Hon. Durosimi Meseko from Kogi State and Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa from Nasarawa State were both named as chairmen of NBRRI.

Hon. Meseko was listed as chairman in position 21 on the appointment list, while Hon. Inuwa appeared as chairman at position 41. The apparent oversight has left many puzzled and has yet to be clarified or addressed by the presidency.

In the announcement, President Tinubu emphasized that board chairpersons’ roles are non-executive and instructed appointees not to interfere with the agencies’ day-to-day operations. However, the conflicting appointments at NBRRI threaten to overshadow the directive.

The statement, which also included appointments for managing directors, directors-general, and board secretaries, indicated that the appointments took immediate effect. As of now, there has been no official clarification or resolution regarding the mix-up.
