Sunday Dare, a spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), labeling them as “wannabes” trying to stir political tension while the president focuses on governance.

According to Peoples Gazette, In a statement released on Sunday, Dare dismissed recent criticisms from the trio, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the administration. He referenced their remarks at a recent conference in Abuja on strengthening democracy, describing it as a gathering aimed at spreading negativity rather than constructive discourse.

“While the president was in Dar es Salaam seeking solutions to Nigeria’s energy problems, some ‘wannabes’ were busy heating up the polity,” Dare stated. “The event was nothing more than a platform to push the same opposition narrative we’ve heard before. Some participants even went as far as advocating undemocratic actions.”

Dare reaffirmed Tinubu’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s challenges and made it clear that the president is prepared to take on any contender in the 2027 elections.

“The clouds are clearing, and soon, the stage will be set. But this is 2025, not 2027. Those eager to test their popularity should wait for the next election,” he asserted. “President Tinubu remains fully focused on providing leadership that will transform our nation.”

At the Abuja conference last week, Atiku accused Tinubu’s government of working to suppress opposition parties, while Amaechi urged the opposition to strengthen itself to challenge the ruling party. El-Rufai echoed these sentiments, criticizing the APC for what he described as imposing an incompetent and self-serving leader on the country.
