Tinubu to lead APC national caucus meeting today

President Bola Tinubu is set to preside over the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus meeting today at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to the party’s confirmation.

Senator Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary, affirmed in an exclusive interview that Tinubu has confirmed his participation.

“By the grace of God, the President will be present. He has already given his confirmation,” Basiru stated.

He also dismissed speculation that the upcoming National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, scheduled for today and tomorrow, might be postponed.

“There is no postponement. The National Caucus and NEC meetings will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday as planned,” he assured.

Last year, the meetings were initially slated for September 11 and 12 but were indefinitely suspended without an official reason. At the time, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka assured that new dates would be announced later.

After several months of uncertainty, concerns were raised regarding when the NEC meeting would be rescheduled. However, party officials continuously responded with vague assurances that it would be held “soon.”

A leaked memo signed by Basiru has now confirmed that the National Caucus meeting will take place today at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, while the NEC meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

The statement reads: “Distinguished colleagues, kindly circulate the following to all party stakeholders in the states: The National Caucus of the party is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by 6 pm.

“The National Executive Committee is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at the National Secretariat of the Party. Best regards.”

The meetings, to be chaired by President Tinubu, are expected to be attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio, his predecessor, past and present APC governors, former and serving Speakers of the House of Representatives, state party chairmen, members of the National Working Committee, and other key stakeholders.

This will be the first NEC and Caucus meeting presided over by Ganduje since assuming his role as APC National Chairman.
