Tinubu Requests N4.5 Trillion Increase in 2025 Budget

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve an increase in the 2025 budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

The request was presented during Wednesday’s plenary session, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio reading the letter.

The proposed adjustment is linked to additional revenue sources, including N1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8 trillion from other government-owned agencies.

The Senate President has referred the request to the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations for review.

The National Assembly aims to finalize and pass the budget before the end of February.
