President Bola Tinubu has taken firm action against cybercrime and transnational car theft, directing law enforcement agencies to step up efforts in curbing these illegal activities.
He has tasked agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to intensify their crackdown on those involved in stolen vehicle trafficking.
This directive follows the successful return of $180,300 and 53 vehicles by the EFCC to Canada, part of an effort to support Canadian victims of cyber fraud.
President Tinubu praised the EFCC for its international cooperation, highlighting the need to prevent criminal organizations from benefiting from their illegal dealings.
Additionally, he called for the protection of Nigeria’s financial and economic systems from criminal influence.
The president emphasized the importance of safeguarding seized assets for the state and victims, ensuring they are handled in line with national laws and global standards.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, he stressed that Nigeria will not become a safe haven for stolen vehicles or illicit wealth.
