Tinubu mourns passing of former Defence Minister’s wife

President Bola Tinubu has condoled the former Minister of Defence, Iya Abubakar, over the passing of his wife, Ummu Abubakar.

Ummu Abubakar reportedly died in Abuja at 78.

Tinubu’s condolence was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, August 29.

The statement reads: “President Bola Tinubu commiserates with elder statesman and former minister of defence, Professor Iya Abubakar, over the passing of his wife, Ummu Abubakar.

“Hajiya Ummu Abubakar passed away in Abuja. She was 78.

“The President states that the deceased, who was also the mother-in-law of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, will be remembered for her devotion to God and dedication to family values.

“President Tinubu prays for God’s mercy on the departed and urges her family to maintain the good name she left behind.”
