President Bola Tinubu has ordered new security steps to tackle ongoing violence in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states.
The President made this known after a long meeting with top security officers at the State House in Abuja.
The session lasted over two hours as he received updates on recent attacks and loss of lives in those areas.
The President said he was not pleased with the rising insecurity and insisted that the killings of innocent people must end.
He asked for stronger action from the security chiefs and demanded a new plan to stop the violence quickly.
During the meeting, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, shared that all the service heads gave full reports to the President.
These included the number of deaths, destroyed homes, and areas affected by unrest.
He said Tinubu had been monitoring the situation even while he was away on visits to Paris and London, constantly giving orders and asking for updates.
Ribadu also explained that Tinubu earlier told them to visit the affected states and talk to political leaders.
That visit has taken place, and they gave him feedback during the meeting.
The President asked them to continue working with local and state governments to find lasting solutions.
The government said that security matters should also involve those closest to the people. This includes local council officials and state leaders.
They are expected to work with the police, military, and intelligence teams to bring peace to communities.
The attackers, according to security reports, are using explosives and hiding in areas without strong government presence.
Tinubu told his team to do more to reach these spots and protect the citizens.
All security bodies, including the army and police, were part of the meeting.
The President stressed the need for faster and better actions. He made it clear that Nigerians must be safe in their homes and communities.
