President prolonged silence may call for cancellation

Barely twenty-four hours after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was declared the winner of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Ondo State, President Bola Tinubu and some Governors believed to be friends of the Sunshine State Governor are yet to extend greetings and wishes to him.

Checks by Starnews NG revealed that the President in previous primaries of the ruling APC used to issue statements to congratulate the party’s flag bearer at the end of every primary election conducted.

Although some Chieftains of the APC in the state have been pouring encomiums on Aiyedatiwa after the exercise. But the political tradition was ostentatiously defied by the Presidency and other APC governors, who are yet to congratulate Governor Aiyedatiwa until now.

However, speculation keeps renting the air that the President’s protracted silence might cause outright cancellation of the election.

As of the time of filing this report, there is no official statement from the President and colleagues of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s over his victory at the poll.
