Tinubu Gets 72-Hour Ultimatum to Unfreeze NSIPA Accounts

The House of Representatives has called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to unfreeze the National Social Investment Programmes Agency’s (NSIPA) accounts within 72 hours.

This move is seen as necessary for restarting the agency’s key programs aimed at fighting poverty, empowering youth, and promoting economic inclusion.

In a motion led by the Deputy Speaker and 20 other lawmakers, the House expressed concern over the operational challenges faced by NSIPA.

These issues include financial mismanagement, administrative hurdles, and insufficient funding, which have caused interruptions in the agency’s vital initiatives.

Lawmakers are urging the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs to address the barriers affecting NSIPA’s smooth operations.

The freeze on the agency’s accounts follows investigations into alleged financial misconduct, but the lawmakers argue that unlocking these funds will restore the effectiveness of the programs.
