The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is absent from governance, insisting that he remains fully engaged in running the country.
The party was reacting to comments by Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who questioned the President’s visibility amid economic and security challenges facing Nigeria.
In a statement issued by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the APC said Tinubu has continued to carry out his constitutional responsibilities, both within Nigeria and during official engagements outside the country.
According to the party, governance should not be judged by frequent public appearances but by the quality of decisions, policies, and results delivered in the national interest. It said the President is actively involved in policy coordination, security oversight, economic reforms, and diplomatic engagements.
The Lagos APC added that Tinubu’s actions are guided by national priorities rather than political commentary, noting that the administration has remained active in addressing economic reforms, security coordination, and international relations aimed at repositioning Nigeria.
The party advised political leaders to focus on offering constructive ideas and solutions instead of making statements that could create unnecessary concern among the public, stressing that the President remains committed to his mandate.
