President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the families of the victims affected by the tanker explosion in Enugu state.
Tinubu conveyed his condolences in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday titled ‘President Tinubu mourns victims of fuel tanker explosion, condoles with Enugu state government.’
The President also directed traffic control agencies to enforce extra measures to prevent recurring fuel tanker explosions.
According to reports, the fuel tanker reportedly spiralled out of control and burst into flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on Saturday.
It comes just days after a similar incident in Niger State, which claimed over 80 lives.
In his message, Tinubu commiserated with the families of the deceased and the injured and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery for those receiving medical treatment.
The president called for caution and adherence to safety measures among road users, particularly fuel tanker operators.
Furthermore, he directed agencies in charge of enforcing traffic rules to implement measures to prevent recurring fuel tanker explosions nationwide.
