Tinubu Condemns Attack On Trump, Says It’s ‘Distasteful’

President Bola Tinubu has described the assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump as distasteful.

According to the Nigerian leader, violence has no place in politics.

The assassination attempt occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Trump was shot in the ear and was seen with blood dripping on his face.

The FBI has identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

He was immediately shot dead by the Secret Service.

In a statement on Sunday, Tinubu said, “The attack on former President Donald Trump is distasteful and goes beyond the pale of democratic norms. Violence has no place in democracy.

“I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery.”

“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time,” it added.
