President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman for winning the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year award.
In a statement released on Monday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also hailed Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for being named CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year. He equally commended the Super Falcons for clinching the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
The awards ceremony took place on Monday night at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
President Tinubu lauded the athletes as exemplary ambassadors of Nigeria, noting that their achievements have brought pride and recognition to the nation on both continental and global platforms. He expressed hope that their success would serve as motivation for other aspiring athletes to remain focused on their dreams.
“These athletes represent the true Nigerian spirit. They remind us of the best we have to offer as a nation. Let no one write us off. I am immensely proud of them,” the president said.
He further highlighted that their discipline, resilience, and excellence align with his administration’s commitment to building a nation where Nigerians can thrive and succeed.
“Thank you for making Nigeria proud and for flying our flag high. Your victories, both at home and abroad, inspire us all, and I am confident that more achievements lie ahead,” President Tinubu added.
