Doyin Okupe, former Director-General of the Peter Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organization in 2023, has voiced his support for President Bola Tinubu, citing him as the standout candidate from the 2023 election pool.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Friday night, Okupe asserted, “Upon reflection, Bola Tinubu emerged as the most suitable choice among all the presidential contenders in 2023.”
Okupe commended Tinubu for his track record as the former governor of Lagos and juxtaposed him with his own candidate, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, suggesting they lacked the same level of expertise and capability as Tinubu.
“From benefit of hindsight, I’ve seen Peter Obi, I’ve worked with Atiku Abubakar. I knew Bola Tinubu long time ago. But in terms of capacity, capability, knowledge, and commitment, you know, people keep underestimating what he did in Lagos. He did a wonderful job,” Okupe said.
He added that one year is too quick to assess the performance of Tinubu in office, urging Nigerians to give the president a chance to make the country better.
