The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced its continued enforcement of the tinted glass ban on vehicles, despite calls from the House of Representatives for a 90-day suspension of the crackdown.
This decision comes as the House recently urged the FCT Police to delay enforcement, citing economic challenges faced by vehicle owners and drivers.
However, the police maintained that the ban plays a critical role in combating crimes such as one-chance robberies.
According to the FCT Police Commissioner, Olatunji Disu, the enforcement has led to a noticeable reduction in such crimes.
Over the past weeks, officers have confiscated approximately 20 vehicles used in one-chance operations, all featuring tinted windows.
The commissioner also pointed out a growing concern over vehicles with completely tinted windshields, which obstruct visibility and potentially aid criminal activities.
