Three Arraigned Over Alleged Theft, Receiving of Stolen Property

 

 

The police on Friday arraigned three men: Nathaniel Thomas, 25, Seriki Kabiru, 25 and Amodu Abubakar, 30, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for an alleged theft and receiving of stolen property.

The three whose residential addresses were not provided were charged with breakings, theft and receiving of stolen property.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Phillip Amusan told the court that Thomas committed the offence on Dec. 13, 2023, at about 10. 00 a.m, at Odo-Ona Kekere area, Ibadan.

Amusan alleged that Thomas broke into the dwelling of one Veronica Fatoke and stole fairly used generator, refrigerator, freezer, roofing sheets, air conditioner and other valuables worth N4, 215, 000.

He also alleged that Abubakar and Kabiru, sometime in December received the stolen items from Thomas without the complainant’s (Fatoke) consent.

Amusan said the offences contravened Sections 412, 427 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two reliable sureties each in like sum.

He thereafter adjourned the case till Feb. 14 for hearing.
