The joy of residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital, knew no bound on Sunday, as concrete barricades on the popular Oja-Oba road have been reportedly removed by the state government.
The barricades were erected by the government to prevent heavy traffic along the road leading to other places in Akure.
Though residents expressed acrimony when the barricades were erected.
The grouse of buyers and sellers at the market was that the idea prevented them from crossing the dual-carriage Oja-Oba road.
A 3-minute video obtained by Starnews Nigeria Correspondent showed an articulated truck lifting the barricade from the road, while jubilant and passersby expressed reprieve, saying “Oluwa o se” which means thank God in Yoruba parlance.
The joyously looking residents, in the video trooped to the road to express unfeigned appreciation to the Acting Governor of the state, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“Thank you Aiyedatiwa”, hundreds of passersby chanted.
