Tension in Ondo as Angry Youths Torch Police Station

A police station in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State, has reportedly been set ablaze by enraged youths. The incident followed allegations that a young boy died in police custody after being subjected to torture.

Sources say the protesters took to the streets after learning about the boy’s death, while his friend, who was also detained, is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Amid the chaos, another building in the area was also allegedly set on fire.

To contain the situation and restore normalcy, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi has traveled from Akure to Ifon.

What are the policemen over there doing? Do they detained them without any reason? The police officers there shouldn’t allowed such attacked. They supposed to make one as an example. When two or three felt, others would know that it is not just. Can them try that with Nigeria army? Some parents refused to trained their children, they are watching them participating in nonsense. These are getting too much, attacking police here and there! How many policemen lost their lives in daily basis to tout and other civilians? How many public police set ablaze? The police authorities should not take this, let the police investigate this and deal with them accordingly.
